What Vision Do You Have For Your Future Self?

TGIF! Today is day 2 of our 30 day challenge and I don’t know about you but I am EXCITED about this month’s challenge! I was out on a hiatus during the month of September to recuperate from surgery that took place in my throat but I am well on my way to recovering all and I have been released by my doctor to start exercising again! So you can imagine that its great to be back in it to win it! During my hiatus I gained about 5 pounds. So that goes to show how important the part of exercise plays in your daily routine and it’s impact on your weight. Well now I’m back and I am ready to get it in! What about you?

Today’s blog is about Vision and how  important it is when you are making decisions about your health or anything that you want to accomplish in life. You have to see in your mind’s eye exactly what you want the end goal to be before you begin this process. When I began my weight loss journey in 2013 all I knew was I wanted to get out of the 200s!!! Once I had a vision of what I wanted I could then begin to set goals that would eventually get me to my desired weight or BMI. What goals have you set so far? Goals are necessary so it can move you forward. My first goal was to lose at least 2-2.5  pounds a week. Which would mean I would lose 10 pounds a month and in a year’s time if successful at meeting those goals monthly I would have a net weight loss of 120 pounds. So measuring your progress is important thus we have our weekly weigh in so we can measure how much weight we have lost. How do you ensure you meet your weekly goal? A good way to do that is to leverage the MyFitnessPal tool/app or Fooducate on your computer, iPhone/iPad or on any Android device. Another good tool is to get a Fitbit tracking device and to use the Fitbit app to track your meals and exercise daily. This helps you to stay on track so you won’t go over your allotted calories for the day. Measuring has been key to my weight loss success. Remember this you cannot manage what you do not measure so this is really important! I know at times it may seem overwhelming to implement these processes but I promise you it’s well worth your time. This is your life, you are valuable, you have a divine purpose to fulfill daily and the world needs you to be able to show up daily to get it done! Being healthy ensures that you will be able to show up and be ultra productive! So what is your vision for your health? What goals will you set to get there? What measuring tool will you use to ensure you meet your goals weekly? I know these are tough questions but you are worth the work, you are worth the answer, you are worth the outcome this work will produce! Invest in you & love yourself enough to implement these processes and move YOUR vision forward. Let’s get it! 🙌

Make today great & healthy!

Your 30 Day Diet & Fitness Challenge Is Here! Let’s Get it!

Happy Sunday Everyone! Tomorrow, Monday April 28th is the start of our next 30 day challenge! You have 2 options on this challenge you can do what I’m going to do and that is Eat Clean for 30 straight days that means no processed foods, no artificial sweeteners & no white or brown carbs. So basically what you can eat is meat, vegetables, fruit, unsweetened Greek yogurt, unsweetened almond milk, beans, nuts, hummus, seeds, black coffee, tea & water!!! The other 30 day challenge food option is to do the same as the above but you can have brown carbs once per day so that includes whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, brown rice or sweet potatoes.

In addition you commit to working out at least 3-5 days a week for at least 30-60 minutes with at least 2-3 days a week of strength training exercises. I personally recommend you do some type of circuit workout that includes both strength and cardio within the scope of the workout. I also challenge you to sleep at least 7-9 hours per night. Experts in the health & wellness field recommend that amount of sleep for overall wellness and to aid in weight loss. Did you know that if you get less than 7-9 hours of sleep per day that it will actually work against your weight loss efforts? Yes it is true! So let’s make getting sleep a priority going forward.

Monday morning please weigh yourself so you can get your starting point. Also take a picture of yourself & if possible measure yourself today. Lastly download the MyFitnessPal app and track your food intake daily to ensure you are staying within your daily calorie allotment. Make sure you add me as a friend on there so I can check on your progress along the way! So let’s get ready, get set and let’s go on this next 30 day challenge starting tomorrow! I’m here to support you! Let me know what questions you have! Make sure you have your doctor’s consent prior to starting this or any other diet & exercise challenge. I’m believing & praying for your success!!! You CAN do it!!!

Let’s get it!

I lost 63 pounds in 6 months! You’ve got next!

Amazing Success
Wow these last 6 months have been amazing!  It’s hard to believe that I’ve gotten to this point! The good news is I am not done! I’m on a mission to losing 100 pounds in 1 year or less! With 37 pounds left to go I’m very hopeful that I will be able to step up to the challenge to get it done! My goal for my last challenge that I completed was to work on tightening up and not gaining any weight during the holidays!  So by that standard this was a successful challenge!

My Secret To Weight Loss
The secret to my weight loss is really simple in theory actually. I eat clean with a diet that consists of only lean meat, vegetables, fruit, nuts, unsweetened almond milk, water,  mean green juice (occasionally) & beans. No processed foods & no added sugars. I pretty much eat nothing out of a box or a fast food drive through.  In addition to that I exercise at least 5 days a week for 45-75 minutes per day depending on my schedule.

2 Essential Elements Of My Success
The other essential keys to my success has been prayer & accountability! After years of trying to lose weight and failing miserably each time I knew I had to do things differently this time.  So I enlisted the help of the one who holds the blueprint of my design…God. The Bible says that “With God nothing is impossible” So I prayed for his help to strengthen me for this weight loss journey and He has in fact done that & has blessed me with a support team consisting of my husband Stephen Akerele & my mentors Brigida Mack, Gregory (at Planet Fitness) & Melanie Scott. As well as accountability partners Shayla Scott, Stacey Joseph & 250+ people taking the challenge with me on Facebook,  My Family, Instagram,  MyFitnessPal and at Christian Faith Assembly Church I couldn’t ask for more & it’s been a blessing to hear all of  the praise reports of weight loss transformations,  healthy habits being formed, health improvements & Higher Self Esteem that has come about through the implementation of this process.

The Next Challenge Begins January 1st
With the new year approaching I thought it would be awesome to start on New Years Day! Not for new year’s resolution sake but because it symbolizes a new start, new possibilities,  & a new year. The theme for this year’s challenge is Getting Fit & Eating Clean in 2014.  Do you want to transform your health picture for the better in 2014? Well I urge you to join me on this next challenge. Believe me you can do this! If I can do it you can too! If you are interested in being a part of this next challenge send me an email at:
