Which Mode Are You In? #BeastMode vs. #GraceMode

Did you wake up in #BeastMode as it relates to meeting your diet and fitness goals today? Beast Mode is defined as “Superhuman state of being, in which animal instinct takes over mind and body.” (Definition source from <http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Beast%20Mode> ) I don’t 100% flow with the definition that the Urban Dictionary gives for this but I understand the passion behind this terminology. 

As for me I go into #GRACEMode. Why? Because I realize that I cannot do this in my own strength. I literally have to tap into something BIGGER than myself in order to stretch myself and go beyond my normal capabilities to do something I’ve never done. I had to go into #GraceMode in order to lose the weight that I have lost and the remaining pounds that I still need to lose. I had to go into #GraceMode in order to run the Run Like A Diva 5K in Myrtle Beach. I have to stay in #GraceMode in order to say NO to processed foods and sweets.  I have to go into #GraceMode in order to meet my goal of 10,000-20,000 #Fitbit steps per day. I have to go into #GraceMode in order to stay on my #NoDaysOff #30DayChallenge. I have to go into #GraceMode in order to stay on this Life track of being healthy and fit for life. Not for an event but literally every day of my life. I define #GraceMode as the divine enablement to do what I cannot do in my own strength. The biblical term grace has a much richer definition in the Hebrew and Greek. (See Definitions below)

 

“A prominent Old Testament word describing God’s grace is chesed. This word speaks of deliverance from enemies, affliction, or adversity. It also denotes enablement, daily guidance, forgiveness, and preservation.

This grace comes from God. I’m not sure how others do it but this is at the core of my testimony & the results that I’ve seen thus far. I pray that you will tap into the grace of God to meet your goals for life. His grace is truly sufficient. 💯

You CAN Do The IMPOSSIBLE! Declare It!!!

Happy Saturday Everyone! I hope everyone is having an enormously healthy month so far! So my question for you today is what do you think is IMPOSSIBLE for you to do or overcome in order to become your best & healthy self and/or to meet a goal that you’ve set for your self? I just want to declare over you today that the struggle is over, that there is absolutely nothing IMPOSSIBLE for you to accomplish in Jesus name! My faith gives me the confidence to say this and if you believe and receive that for your life say AMEN! 

Listen I never thought in a millionaire years that I would have been able to ever lose weight. But once you have decided that enough is enough, something has got to shift. It starts in your mind, then you must declare by faith that you CAN do this!!! Next is set goals (write them down) and make an action plan to meet those goals. Once you your plan in place then you must have accountability someone who will hold your feet to the fire so you will stay on track. Please get your accountability in place before we go into this last week of this challenge. Prove to yourself that you can meet your goals one day at a time, one week at a time, one month at a time. 

This month I have been focused on training for a Run Like A Diva 5K that I will be running in May. If you would have told my younger & much larger self that I was going to be running a 5K I would have laughed in your face and told you that you are dreaming! You see I used to be “allergic” to running… literally LOL! But today, 4 years after I started my weight loss journey I am running my 1st 5K, not walking, running!!! I’m so excited! Guess what? You’ve got next! I’m praying & believing for you!!!! You will meet your goals!!! Make this week active & healthy!!!

To Be or Not To Be MOTIVATED! 

Happy Tuesday!!!! It’s day 21 of our 30 day challenge! How are things going with you on the challenge? I pray things are going well. Well I know sometimes you can get discouraged on your fitness journey. Every one of us at some point have been discouraged concerning our results or the lack thereof. We have all tried to search for the motivation to get back on track and to STAY on track consistently. Today I want to remind you why you started taking this challenge with me in the first place & explain why you should stay on track. I pray that the following will motivate you to eat healthier, exercise and/or lose weight if needed to get to a healthy BMI. Here are the some of the benefits below:

1) Your health picture will improve:

A) Reduce High Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar Levels, Cholesterol

B) Increases Fertility in Women impacted by PCOS

C) Prevent or Reverse Type 2 Diabetes

D) Reduce the risk for developing Strokes, Cancer & Heart Attacks

E) Improves Sleep Apnea

F) Improves breathing

G) Reduces the risk of developing other chronic diseases that are obesity related

2) You will live a longer & fuller life

A) Increase your probability of living long enough to see your children, grandchildren and your  great grandchildren grow up

B) You will have more energy and will be able to remain active & travel freely without constraints

C) Reduction of the need for medicine & physical therapy ( save money too!)

D) Be a great example & model for your children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family members & friends

E) Save money in the long run since you will not need as much medicine or Hospital/Surgical visits

3) Boost in your mental/emotional health

A) Exercising actually helps you to relieve stress and tension

B) Increases your self-esteem & outlook on life

C) Reduces the risk for developing depression and brightens your mood

4) Bring God glory with our Bodies!

Our bodies were given to us by God. We only get one so let’s do our best to get in shape & stay in shape by being a good steward over it.

With God’s help, a made up mind & consistency You CAN do it! I’m rooting for you!!!

What Is Your Vision For 2017? 

Happy Thursday! It is day 5 of our 30 day challenge and I don’t know about you but I am EXCITED about this month’s challenge! What about you? Today’s blog is about vision and how important it is when you are making decisions about your health or anything that you want to accomplish in life. You have to see in your mind’s eye exactly what you want the end goal to be before you begin this process. When I began my weight loss journey in 2013 all I knew was I wanted to get out of the 200s!!! Once I had a vision of what I wanted I could then begin to set goals that would eventually get me to my desired weight or BMI. What goals have you set so far? Goals are necessary so it can move you forward. My goal is to lose at least 2  pounds a week. Which would mean I would lose 8 pounds a month and in 6 months time a net weight loss of 48 pounds. As you can see measuring your progress is important so we will have a weekly weigh in so we can measure how much weight we have lost. 

How do you ensure you meet your weekly goal? A good way to do that is to leverage the MyFitnessPal app on your computer, iPhone/iPad or on any Android device. Another good tool is to get a Fitbit tracking device and to use the Fitbit app to track your meals and exercise daily. This helps you to stay on track so you won’t go over your allotted calories for the day. Measuring has been key to my weight loss success. Remember this you cannot manage what you do not measure so this is really important! I know at times it may seem overwhelming to implement these processes but I promise you it’s well worth your time. This is your life, you are valuable, you have a divine purpose to fulfill daily and the world needs you to be able to show up daily to get it done! Being healthy ensures that you will be able to show up and be ultra productive! So what is your vision for your health? What goals will you set to get there? What measuring tool will you use to ensure you meet your goals weekly? I know these are tough questions but you are worth the work, you are worth the answer, you are worth the outcome this work will produce! Invest in you & love yourself enough to implement these processes and move YOUR vision forward. Let’s get it! 🙌

Do YOU really BELIEVE that YOU CAN DO IT?

Happy Hump Day! It is day 2 of our 30 Day Challenge & I am so excited about it! I am looking forward to what this month is going to bring as we make healthy choices, become more active & get an adequate amount of sleep! But…. first things first! You HAVE to start this challenge with a belief that it is possible, that YOU WILL be successful on this challenge, that YOU CAN do it! Every venture & every challenge worth starting must begin with FAITH. Faith believes, Faith speaks, Faith works! Speak it, believe & let’s put our faith to work during this challenge by sticking to the food plan, exercise & sleep plan for this month.

Today I declare and pray for everyone taking part in this challenge, that you will be successful on this challenge, that you will be able to lay aside every weight that will try to hinder you from making progress this month. When I speaks of weights I am talking about bad habits, unhealthy food choices, inactivity, unbelief, low self-esteem, impulses, proclivities, ANYTHING that would try to get in the way of your progress this month.

Do me a favor get a piece of paper and write in the center of it  “I CAN DO IT!” Look at the example I have provided in this picture above. Put “My 30 Day Challenge” at the top and what your starting weight is. Beside that write the words “Final Weight” so when the challenge is over you can put your final results in. Feel free to write any other inspirational phrases that motivate you below “I CAN Do It”.  Write what your weekly weight loss goal is at the bottom right hand corner of the page and on the left hand corner write “Week 1 actual:” and so on for 4 weeks so you can document the actual weight you lost each week of the challenge. We will weigh in weekly on Tuesday mornings to measure our progress.  Once you have completed this tape it on your mirror in the bathroom or somewhere you visit often in your house like the refrigerator (lol) so you are constantly reminded of your goals for this month.

The main point of the post today is show the importance of faith in this process and the importance of goal setting and measuring your progress. These in addition to you implementing your plan will help ensure you are successful on this 30 day challenge. I am praying for you and I am believing with you that YOU CAN DO IT! Your Life, My Life, Our Lives MATTER!

I know this has nothing to do with diet and fitness but this post MATTERS more than any that I’ve ever posted on my blog… 

​I had to have the #BlackLivesMatter #BlueLivesMatter #AllLivesMatter conversation with my child this morning. She was shocked & saddened by the recent events that have played out in the media regarding the fatal shootings of #PhilandoCastile #AltonSterling & the 5 #DallasPoliceOfficers as we all are. That could have been our Father, our brother, our son whether on the blue or black side. At the end of the day we have to come together in love and #unity and all of us need to turn back to God. Please join #Dallas in #praying TODAY @12 NOON for the healing and unity of our country. Parents have this talk with  your children & end the conversation in praying for the healing and unity of ALL of God’s children. Enough is Enough!

Hate cannot dispel hate only #LOVE can…

Weekend Prep For New 30 Day Challenge Starting On Monday!

Happy Saturday Everyone! We have reached the 30th day of our January 30 day challenge! Tomorrow you can take a break but don’t over do it! Use tomorrow to get prepared for our February #30DayChallenge! So how did you do on the January challenge? Let me know how it went through responding to this post or by sending me a personal message. Are you ready to eat clean and exercise consistently during the month  of February? Well I am! I challenge you to eat clean with no processed foods during the month of February and to exercise at least 3-5 days per week! Lastly don’t forget to get at least 8 hours of sleep per day. Getting adequate sleep is paramount to you kicking your weight loss into full gear! Tomorrow I will give you preview of how we will interact and support each other in order to stay on track. We have to make a conscious decision say NO to everything that will try to distract US from meeting OUR goals in February! I believe in you and I am praying for success. Never give up! Don’t stop until you meet your goals!!!

Let’s prepare for Monday! February 1st is almost here!!!
