It’s Mental Health Awareness Month 2022 and The Start Of Our May Self-care Challenge!

Happy Monday Choosing Healthy Family! I hope you had a great Mother’s day weekend! Today is the start of our May self-care challenge and it’s Mental Health Awareness month 2022! In light of that I thought it would be important to share why it’s critical to make self-care a priority. Self-care is key to you staying active & sharp in the real game of life. One thing I’ve made a priority is exercising at least 3 times weekly, eating healthier, getting adequate sleep and reducing stress. Why??? Not just for my physical health but also for my mental health. In fact I decided this month that I was going to delay starting my May self-care challenge until after Mother’s day to give myself a much needed mental health break. It was a great and restful time away and now I’m back fresh and ready to motivate you on your self-care journey!

– Eating Clean Whole Foods
– Exercising
– Getting Adequate Sleep
– Reducing Stress by Practicing Intentional Self-care Daily
– Eliminating Snacking, Processed Foods, Starchy Carbs and Sugar (with the exception of low glycemic fruit) from our meals.

Guess what? It has been proven that aerobic exercise (walking, jogging, running, swimming, dancing, cycling..etc.) helps reduce depression, anxiety and helps in releasing feel good hormones (endorphins) that improve your mood. (See more about this research here: )

What self-care tools will you be leveraging for this month? Remember exercise, sleep, eating clean, low carb whole foods isn’t just about your physical fitness but your mental and emotional well-being as well! If you are standing on the sidelines of life, its time to get back in the game with self-care! You are more than worth it! Let’s get it!!! 🔥
