The Thanksgiving Holiday Was Great, but the Mindset Shift Is Better

Happy Black Friday! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday. I took the day offline to fully immerse myself in family time, practicing gratitude, and doing the things that bring me joy, which included singing on stage and gazing at the Caribbean Sea. It was exactly what my soul needed. ❤️

My family. ❤️

Reflecting on it today, I’m thinking about the difference between an “event” and a “practice.” We get motivated for the big event (New Year’s, Thanksgiving, birthday milestones, anniversaries, or a project launch). We give it 100% of our energy. The next day, we revert to baseline. But the real clinical benefits of gratitude: reduced cortisol, improved sleep, and better resilience, don’t come from the Thanksgiving holiday. They come from the daily repetition of practicing gratitude.

My favorite place! The Caribbean Sea! 🌊

Think of the holiday as the kickoff, not the conclusion. The challenge isn’t being grateful when there is a feast on the table. The challenge (and the growth) comes from finding moments of gratitude on a busy Friday or a stressful Monday morning. I’m entering into this post-Thanksgiving season refreshed and ready to turn that holiday spirit into a daily discipline.

What is one thing you are taking from Thanksgiving into your weekend and weekly routine?
