Get ready to weigh in & really get it in on our next challenge starting on December 1st! This is the month that can really make or break you with all of the holiday food, drinks and sweets if you let it! Take back control and do not allow the holiday season to wreck your progress and goals that you have set for 2016! Stay focused on eating clean & training mean! Let’s finish the year off STRONG, ACTIVE & HEALTHY!

Don’t Let Thanksgiving Derail Your Progress !

So you decided to take the challenge with me but realized that today is THANKSGIVING! Yes it is but guess what you don’t have to worry about it because I’ve got some tips for you!

1) Start Thanksgiving off right with a nice workout! This will help get your metabolism a boost for the day and will help lessen the impact of the hearty Thanksgiving meal you plan to have. I know you won’t believe it but I already have 5,000+ steps so I’m well on my to meet my exercise target and calorie goal for today. 

2) Try to go for 1 round of food instead of going back for 2nds & 3rds in one sitting. Fix a to go plate instead that you can enjoy later in the day or the next day.

3) Watch your portion size! Try to eat a little bit of everything but don’t fill your plate with big portions.

4) Go for a walk after your meal. Burn some of those calories off!

5) Drink water instead of calorie filled drinks to reduce your calorie intake.

Weigh In Day #3 For November 2016 #30DayChallenge 

Happy Tuesday Everyone! It’s day 22 of our November 30 day challenge! Today is our 3rd weigh in for this month’s challenge.  So don’t forget to weigh in first thing this morning in order to tell me how you did during the past 2 weeks! I am happy to announce that I’ve lost 6 pounds total in the first 3 weeks of this challenge!!! This means I’m still on target with my goal to lose 2 pounds per week. What about you? Either respond to this post or send me a personal message. In addition to your progress I want to know what is your breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner plan for today? What is your exercise plan? Lastly, what is your Thanksgiving eating/drinking/exercise plan? Stay tuned for a post on that tomorrow! Go ahead and write down your goals/plan for the rest of the week and execute the plan! Remember this if you fail to plan then you indeed plan to fail! So get that plan out on paper or on your Smartphone/Tablet and let’s make this final week of the challenge great, healthy and active!!! Do You Have an #Exercise #Sleep & #Food Plan For This Week? Let’s Go!

Happy Sunday Everyone! I hope you had a great weekend!!! Mine has been AWESOME with the exception of seeing the Carolina Panthers lose by 3 points today but regardless we won’t stop, we won’t quit, we are going to #KeepPounding!!!! BUT… (Clears Throat) We are not here to talk about FOOTBALL! So… It is day 13 of our 30 day challenge! Can you believe that we are almost half way through the month already??? How are things going so far? Are you staying committed to the plan? I sure hope so! So since it’s the weekend I thought it would be appropriate to speak to the importance of staying completely stocked with healthy foods. So here are some tips going into this work week.

1) Go shopping weekly:
Because you are eating clean you will want to shop once a week and get enough for at least 7 days. Especially because you want to make sure you have everything you need to have a successful week. Also you don’t want to go beyond a 7 day supply so you can ensure that your food is fresh and does not go bad.

2) How you shop in the grocery store is key:
When you’re shopping you want to make sure that you only go around the perimeter of the store in other words stay on the outside lanes moving from the deli section to the fruit & vegetable section, the meat section the dairy section and on to the freezer section for frozen fruit and vegetables. With the exception of going to the aisle for beans, nuts, olive oil, peanut/almond butter & whatever else is on your approved 30 day challenge food list.

3) Why is this shopping process so important? 
The reason this is key is so you will always have an ample food supply of healthy food on deck to reduce the temptation to get unhealthy food on impulse. If you get tempted you can go in your fully stocked food pantry and grab something that can satisfy that craving guilt free.

4) One final but important note:
As important as it is to ensure that you have and keep a healthy food supply on a weekly basis it is also equally important to make sure that you purge your house of unhealthy food. If it is in your house that is going to be a source of temptation. Believe me I am a witness to this, I have fallen off the wagon many times because I yielded to the temptation that was in MY own house!!! So PLEASE completely purge your house of any temptations that could possibly get you off track! Let’s have a successfully active and healthy week! As the photo for this blog post says… Get Sleep, Eat Clean, Drink Water, Exercise & REPEAT! You CAN do it!

Happy Election Day! I hope you are having a phenomenally healthy & blessed week so far! Well today is day 8 of our 30 day challenge! We have one week done already! It is our weigh in day so weigh in this morning and let me how you did! We will be weighing in every week on this challenge. I can’t wait to get your feedback! Weight loss and getting healthy is not an event it is a journey! So hang in there even if the scale doesn’t reflect the weight you hoped it would. Remember healthy weight loss is losing .5-2 pounds weekly. Let’s make this week count. Stay focused on your goal & make this week great & healthy by eating clean, sleeping 8 hours nightly & staying active!

Did You #Exercise Today?

#TGIF!!!!! It’s Day 4 of our #30DayChallenge & now It’s time for the EXERCISE CHECK IN! Who got it in today and what exercises did you do? I got my exercise in with my Fitbit device participating in several daily and weekly challenges with other people who are also serious about meeting their daily exercise goals. If you haven’t exercised yet tell me what exercises you are going to do tonight! No matter how small get in at least 20-30 mins today. SOMETHING is better than NOTHING!!! I encourage you to be intentional about getting it in this weekend! Get your rest, but also get your exercise in as well. You’ve got goals & you already know, YOU ARE WORTH it!

Do You Know Your Health Status? Find Out Why This Is Important!!!

Happy Thursday! It is day 3 of our 30 Day Challenge!!! How is it going so far? Have you weighed yourself and set your goals for this month? Today I want to talk about knowing your health status! It is so important to understand the factors that contribute to our ability and inability to lose weight. There are varying factors including genetics, environmental factors, habits, diet, exercise and your individual current health status physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually etc. I believe that is important to take a holistic approach when looking at your health.

Today we are going to start with your physical health picture. It is critical that you go to the doctor and have your yearly health examination/physical done. You need to know your status. In fact TODAY I am going to get my physical done. I can’t wait to get my results back! Why? So I will know what action I need to take to either improve or maintain the status that I have. Hopefully I will hear good news that my Blood pressure, A1C, Cholesterol, Iron, Thyroid…etc levels are normal. But you won’t know unless you go!

2 years ago I found out why I was having a problem losing the weight that I had set my goal to lose as a result of having my physical done. I found out that my thyroid levels were not normal, as a result I went to see a Thyroid Specialist. They did their exam and found out that I had tumors on my thyroid that I later found out were benign (THANK GOD) but I still had to take action and get my thyroid removed. After my thyroid was removed I had to begin taking a prescription thyroid hormone. To date I have been on 3 different types to find the right one that will work best for me. Because of my thyroid levels not being normal I hit a metabolism wall that could not be overcome with food or exercise. But I did not give up after 2 years today I am finally at a normal level and so NOW I can go back to my 30 day challenge and see some results.

After 3 days on the challenge I have already lost 3 pounds! Listen the plan works but you have to work the plan, you have to be consistent, you have to be vigilant and know your health status. I hope this post encourages you to go get your physical and to stay on top of your physical health. Why? Because YOU ARE WORTH IT! So what now?

Do YOU really BELIEVE that YOU CAN DO IT?

Happy Hump Day! It is day 2 of our 30 Day Challenge & I am so excited about it! I am looking forward to what this month is going to bring as we make healthy choices, become more active & get an adequate amount of sleep! But…. first things first! You HAVE to start this challenge with a belief that it is possible, that YOU WILL be successful on this challenge, that YOU CAN do it! Every venture & every challenge worth starting must begin with FAITH. Faith believes, Faith speaks, Faith works! Speak it, believe & let’s put our faith to work during this challenge by sticking to the food plan, exercise & sleep plan for this month.

Today I declare and pray for everyone taking part in this challenge, that you will be successful on this challenge, that you will be able to lay aside every weight that will try to hinder you from making progress this month. When I speaks of weights I am talking about bad habits, unhealthy food choices, inactivity, unbelief, low self-esteem, impulses, proclivities, ANYTHING that would try to get in the way of your progress this month.

Do me a favor get a piece of paper and write in the center of it  “I CAN DO IT!” Look at the example I have provided in this picture above. Put “My 30 Day Challenge” at the top and what your starting weight is. Beside that write the words “Final Weight” so when the challenge is over you can put your final results in. Feel free to write any other inspirational phrases that motivate you below “I CAN Do It”.  Write what your weekly weight loss goal is at the bottom right hand corner of the page and on the left hand corner write “Week 1 actual:” and so on for 4 weeks so you can document the actual weight you lost each week of the challenge. We will weigh in weekly on Tuesday mornings to measure our progress.  Once you have completed this tape it on your mirror in the bathroom or somewhere you visit often in your house like the refrigerator (lol) so you are constantly reminded of your goals for this month.

The main point of the post today is show the importance of faith in this process and the importance of goal setting and measuring your progress. These in addition to you implementing your plan will help ensure you are successful on this 30 day challenge. I am praying for you and I am believing with you that YOU CAN DO IT!
